Asian Football Awards…And The Winner Is……

I am pleased to announce to the community that last night, (14 November) in front of an audience of leaders in Asian football, Stanmore Jafferys Football Academy were awarded “The FA For All” award. The award was sponsored by the FA. The ceremony was held at the prestigious Grange Hotel St Pauls, in the City overlooking the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral.

The Asian Football Awards have been created to reward and recognise Asians in the football industry. The aim is to provide a platform for Asians to promote their skills whilst also showing the footballing world that coaches, volunteers, players, administrators and fans are Asians who simply love the game.

The basis for the nomination was the Salaam Cup. In July this year, SJFA extended Salaam (Peace) to communities and clubs across the UK, welcoming members and guests with the message of peace, unity, respect and harmony.

The 2017 edition of Salaam Cup hosted 57 teams from 11 communities with 500+ players displaying an exceptionally high level of football. The community will recall the football tournament included a family fun day with stalls and activities for children creating a festival of fun for all age groups. The event brought families together from all faiths in the name of peace, unity, respect & harmony.

The beauty and beacons of the Salaam Cup were the 100+ Salaamteers who provided an integral role leading to the success of the event. This would not have been possible without their dedication, enthusiasm and willingness. This was the difference between a good tournament and a great tournament! A message to the volunteers can be found here.

As I was later interviewed in the media room, what was pleasing to hear from the Middlesex FA Development Head was how impressed they were with our various activities outside the beautiful game; including the Social Responsibility Program – “one week you guys are in Iraq helping the orphans, and the next collecting for a food bank in Wembley. You do so much”. This is a credit to the SJFA Family for their support in the initiatives that the “One Team” have been rolling out.

We have reached this stage and a further milestone with the support of the whole community, and would like to thank everyone for their encouragement. I am sure we can count on your continued support as we travel together on this exciting journey.
