SJFC showed off their fearless attacking movement as they created a host of opportunities away at Chalfton St Peter – but were unlucky to not convert as they lost 3-0.
The U8s played the majority of the game in the opposition’s half, hitting the post four times and facing a goalkeeper in fantastic form.
In the first quarter, Noah Hussein and Ali Hussein Walji went close, drawing great saves from the opposition keeper.
Aliabbas Dharas and Mehdi Bhimji were key in driving the ball forward and ensuring a quick transition from defence to attack, while Mehdi Lakha and Qasim Khoja gave their midfielders no time on the ball.
Mohamed Moosa was also essential in stretching the opposition backline with intelligent movement. He was unlucky to see his numerous efforts well saved or blocked.
Zaynali, with another stellar performance in goal, was unlucky to see the first goal hit the inside of the post and go in, while the other two came from losing the ball in our own defensive third.
But despite being down, the lads played with a smile on their face. This was highlighted perfectly by Mahdi Hassan Lalji dancing through the opposition’s defence in the fourth quarter and trying a cheeky rabona finish. While it didn’t go in, the creativity is something that is encouraged.
Going home happy with the performance, the manager Kumail Jaffer said: “Once again, we dominated the match and took the game to the opposition. As we enter the second half of the season, I’m sure we will see the results match our performances very soon.”
