The first match of the season for the U9s was blessed with great weather, the pitches were setup, the boys warmed up and the whistle is blown in the first game for the Eagles.

A good start by Stanmore where they dominated the early play and possession with some good chances but Chesham showed a resilient streak with their defence.

Stanmore kept up the pressure constantly creating chances and up steps Hassan Valjy who strikes the ball cleanly to score the Eagles 1st goal of the season – the keeper got his hands to it but couldn’t keep it out.  The Eagles were now on a roll with Zayn Khatau releasing an unstoppable shot in the top corner extending SJFA’s lead to 2-0. Ammar Hussein Lalji in goal had a quiet quarter where he was hardly troubled with a defence led by Jaabir Merali that soaked up the pressure.

After some wise words from the coaches, a drink of water and a couple of substitutions the teams came back on the pitch second quarter.  The Eagles picked-up where they left off in the 1st quarter and dominated the field of play, a loose clearance fell nicely for Zaki Mavani on the edge of the box who sees the keeper off his line and curls it into the bottom corner – a fantastic goal.  After some good midfield interplay and slick one-touch passing from the Eagles, Zaki Mavani pokes the ball past the last defender, runs round him and places the ball calmly to the keepers right for the Eagles fourth goal.

Chesham regrouped and put together an attack with a good shot forcing a save from Mikhial Rashid, this was closely followed by another Chesham attack foiled by some determined defending from Hassan Valjy, Hussein Bhaloo and Mikaeel Rashid.

Half-Time 4-0

Chesham came out fighting after the break and were able to get a goal back making it 4-1 with a some hard fought tackling at the edge of the Eagles box drawing in defenders.  The Eagles woke up having conceded a goal and started passing the ball better getting back into a rhythm with Aadam Merali leading the charge.

Ali Nurmohammed latches cleanly onto a ball with a great volley from a perfect corner kick by Zayn Dharas to score a 5th. This was then closely followed by another Stanmore goal after a great run from from Zaki Mavani and an excellent finish by Ali Nurmohammed to make it 6-1.

The Eagles kept pushing forward and after an excellent pass across the box Hassan Valjy shoots to find his attempt is blocked by the keeper but wait the ball rolls perfectly for Zayn Dharas who shoots into an unmarked net to score the Eagles 7th.

The teams come out for the final quarter and up steps Abbas Rajvani with his inner midfield maestro looking to break out, he takes on the Chesham midfield running through the defenders and shoots to make it 8-1, this give Abbas the boost he needs and spotting an errant pass by the goalkeeper he intercepts the ball outside the box shooting to make it number 9 for the Eagles.

With several of the Eagles players now with 2 goals each the pressure is on to see if any of them get a hat-trick and after some great play the ball falls to Ali N at the edge of the box who stikes cleanly to make it 10 goals for SJFA in the their opening match of the season.

Final score 1-10 to SJFA Eagles.
