“Bringing my 2 sons for SJFA Training each week and watching the coaches instil sporting skills and sportsmanship values in the children, I caught the coaching bug. Watching these young boys playing with excitement and free spirit is so uplifting and makes it such a worthwhile cause. SJFA is a brilliant community scheme for our youth, not only helping to develop football skills but also creating bonds and friendships that will last through the years and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Syed Amir Zaidi
Coach

“At the age of 41, It dawned on me that it was unlikely that I would be picked up by any Premiership Scouts, despite my obvious talent. Having already mastered Subbuteo, Fantasy Football, and Pro Evolution Soccer I decided to try my hand at coaching.

In seriousness, Football can help young people with health, confidence and teamwork. By learning growth mindset principles in sport, kids can apply them to all aspects of their life to become role models for the next generation.”

“Vision for SJ kids: Just to come and play and enjoy themselves.  If we can win some trophies or medals along the way, then that’s a bonus.  Emphasis on enjoyment.
When I first came to this country in 1983 we didn’t really have a community, as the mosque was far and people lived all over the city.
Over the years, there was an effort made by one man to bring kids together through football.  He had designated areas where you could go and get a lift to Brunel University (our equivalent to The Hive), where we all played together.  Slowly we made friendships, and those friendships are still in place 30 years later.  So if one man could do this, then imagine what a team of people i.e. SJ can do for all.”

“Absolute privilege to be coaching our budding footballers. Although coaching involves facilitation of fun and self-development, being in a community domain requires the role to also be a carer, guide, guardian and an example. I’m very passionate about the tactical side of football and encouraging players to improve every aspect of their game.”
