Knebworth Reserves vs SJFC 1st Team

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, SJFC were looking to close out their season on a high. The opponent’s for the week were Knebworth Reserves. The fixture was originally postponed due to the tragic passing of Marhum Fazal Virani, and in a show of pure class, Knebworth offered to start the game with a minute’s silence in his honour. In addition to this, they also offered a few pauses in the game to accommodate the squad who were fasting during this match.

The game started quite back and forth, however after a brilliant cross and acrobatic finish, Knebworth took the lead. This was followed by a second and a third before half time.

The second half started on a more positive note, as Zia Dewji found Abbas Rattansi on a counter attack who slotted past the keeper. This was followed up with a few more chances from SJFC, most notably when Shabbar Jaffer brought down the ball and fed Maisam Merali through on goal, whose chip attempt just sailed over the bar.

Unfortunately SJFC couldn’t capitalise on the chances and Knebworth got a 4th, followed by a 5th and 6th.
Final score Knebworth 6-1 SJFC.
