SJFC were trying to make it 5 wins in a row in a match vs their most local team, Oxhey Jets Development. The game was played at Boundary Stadium in Oxhey, a pitch usually used by Oxhey Jets first team.
The game started with SJFC in control, chances included brilliant headers from Amirali Merali and MohammedMehdi Karim, as well as some long range efforts from Murtaza Merali, all requiring saves from the Oxhey Jets Keeper. Oxhey werent without their chances however, as a goal line clearance was required by the skipper Hussein Pirbhai on his first game back after injury in the latter stages of the first half.
After a stalemate first half, SJFC started the second best, as MZ Kalyan was called into action for a few saves. In the 60th minute however, MohammedMehdi Karim brought down the ball from the opposition keepers kick effortlessly, fed Amirali who layed it off for Mahdi Hemraj for his customary sprint down the right wing. Mahdi then cut the ball across the box to SJFCs top scorer this season, Yaseen Valjy, who tapped it in with ease. In just 3 passes, SJFC had taken the lead.
SJFC carried on this momentum with both Mazharali Gulamhussein and Zain Bandali coming close to making it 2-0.
In the 88th minute, Oxhey began to gain momentum, forcing MZ to make a a crucial point blank save. With what seemed like an eternal period of injury time, SJFC were defending well but in the 102nd minute(!) and Oxhey shot struck the hand of an SJFC player in the box, resulting in a penalty which was slotted away comfortably.
The final whistle then blew in the 105th minute, and SJFC were heartbroken in what felt like 2 points lost in a cruel manner. However, the momentum carries forward and the team displayed a lot of fight and battle and carry on their undefeated streak.
