SJFA Collaborates with Premier League Doctor – Includes Mahe Ramadhan Article

The SJFA No.1 objective during the 2017/2018 season is of development and to build on the fantastic achievements during the first two years including the BEDSA finalist nomination. As a club it is important we connect with the right people who can nurture our development, and nominations like BEDSA provide the club with the exposure it requires. In March this year the Chairs of SJ (Abbas Merali) and SJFA (Shafique Govani) were at the Muslim News Awards as SJ were nominated for a Sports Category. It was during this evening that the SJFA connected with Zafar Iqbal (below right) who is currently the Head of Medical at Crystal Palace Football Club and previously first team doctor at Liverpool Football Club. At this eventful meeting the SJFA shared with Dr Iqbal their vision and objectives and how the doctor could support us on our journey. Since March, Mohammed Valjy (current Secretary SJFA) has continued the discussions with Dr Iqbal who has kindly agreed to share with us some of the sports articles he has written over the years.

Luis Suarez peviously of Liverpool is examined by Zaf Iqbal, previously Liverpool’s first team Doctor, during a medical ahead of signing for Liverpool Football club at Melwood training ground on January 29, 2011 in Liverpool.

To celebrate the Holy Month of Mahe Ramadhan, what better way to start then by sharing with you an article on ADVICE FOR FOOTBALLERS FASTING DURING RAMADAN”. We are aware that both parents and boys/girls continue to play sports during the Holy Month and we hope that the article is of benefit to you before you step on to the sporting arena. Please do look out for other articles over the next few months including Match Day Nutrition.

Please continue to remember the SJFA family in your prayers.
