SJFA Player Attends Chelsea Asian Star Initiative

Back in March we shared details on the Chelsea Asian Star Initiative with the SJFA Community. The event was held last Sunday (20 May).

Sharing below the experience of one SJFA boy who attended the event.
I signed my son Abbasali up for the Asian Star 2018 organised by the Chelsea Football Club Foundation at their home training ground, Stamford Bridge, on Sunday 20th May 2018.

Registration was from 9am and training started at 10am. I had also taken my younger son with me (although he was too young to play) and both boys proudly rocked up in their SJFA kits. They did some drills for the first hour and then they were timed doing various activities such as running between 2 points and shooting at various goals.

After this testing, the children broke for lunch. They were able to relax and play on PS4 consoles before getting back onto the pitch for some matches. The games session lasted for about 2.5 hours in total, where each team played all other teams in their age category.

The presentation was at 3pm and each child was awarded with a medal and a certificate of participation. They were also given a t-shirt which they were allowed to keep.

This session was open to children in the U9, U10, U11 and U12 age groups. There were approximately 150 children in total.

It was a great day out and Abbasali really enjoyed meeting so many other keen young footballers. He has already told me to sign him up next year. It’s totally free of charge and I would encourage parents to sign their kids up.
