The SJFA Tier 3 squad for this mini league was as follows:
Jaabir Walji GK)
Ali Reza Hamir (C)
Husayn M H Merali
Background: Futsal is a five a-side game, played on an open sided pitch with specific goals and a size 4 football with a reduced bounce. It is played to touchlines and all players are free to enter the penalty area and play the ball over head height. It is hugely popular in many countries including Brazil and Spain. The game is used as a means to develop technical ability in youngsters. It promotes a fast, highly-skilled, and technically-demanding game.
The under 10’s took part in their second futsal mini league. we played 4 games against teams who all play on a regular basis. The boys lined up in a diamond formation with Adam and Husayn Rotating as last man behind Ali Reza and Ammaar in the middle, and Ali Dewji as the target man upfront.
Game 1: SJFA 2-0 Stoky
Game 2: SJFA 0-3 Northwood FC
Game 3: SJFA 1-1 Risborough
Game 4: SJFA 3-1 Watford town
SJFA finished in joint second place with 7 points.
SJFA played all their games with great intensity, defending very well, and looking to counter attack at any opportunity. All the boys played some great football. Jaabir was heroic in goal and Ali Dewji was a great addition to the team scoring and creating many chances. The performances of all the players moved up a level from last month and it was a momentous effort by all the squad with an excellent work rate.
As a coach for this tier I left feeling very optimistic for next month and really believe with our squad we will be top of the league in March.
