It was a cold frosty morning but that didn’t affect our U12s team who brought plenty of enthusiasm to their first game back, after the Christmas break.

We all started the game with positive energy calmly passing the ball around. We had more possession than our opposition and we had a few very good chances. Early in the first quarter Ali Mehdi played a through ball to Adam who ran onto the ball and lifted it over the keeper to make it 1-0. That concluded the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Adam and Husayn Gulamhussein were rested bringing on Abbasali Muraj and Asad Ali Bandali. SJFA began the second quarter well, controlling the midfield with Hanni and Abassali Muraj seeing a lot of the ball. Shortly after we lost concentration and they got their equalizer.

We started the third quarter with our heads down. The opposition scored a quick goal and then another a few minutes later. Our coach remained positive throughout, cheering us on at all times. Abbas Ali Ladha played a through ball to Adam who ran on to it and was one on one with the keeper, just as he was about to shoot he slipped, as he looked up he saw Hanni on the other side of the box who if passed to could have scored.

The last quarter started with the opposition leading 3-1 but the game was not over. We started moving the ball around well with short tidy passes. Unfortunately, they had a counter-attack, their striker was through on goal and finished it calmly to make it 4-1. We had another chance late on in the game but we were not clinical enough. In the dying moments of the game, the opposition was on the attack, their winger took a shot and Suhail made a great save, the ball then fell to their player who took a shot but Munsif (our defender!!!) cleared it with his hands conceding a penalty. Suhail made an amazing save and that was the last touch of the game. Overall the result does not reflect how well we played. Inshallah, we can do better next time.
