It was a typical British morning with grey skies, muddy grounds and 13 SJFA boys turning up to a football pitch in Kenton. It ended 6-1 to the home side (AVA) but the scoreline certainly did not reflect the match as a whole.

The team had some great plays that the coaches had certainly drilled into the boys including some tight passing and breakthroughs leading to a great goal that rifled into the top of the net by Zaamin Valjy.

AVA started the first half well taking a quick 2-0 lead and a brace by one of their very strong players. They went on to lead that half 5-1. It must have been the coaches half-time team talk that motivated and solidified the boys because there was certainly a change in momentum. The wind just was not blowing SJFA’s direction but there was some great defensive work, especially by fullbacks Ali Sheikh (MOTM) and Zahir Abbas Sidik. A late penalty sealed the game for AVA although Ali Abbas Dossa almost managed to get across to it, who stepped up very well to play in a full sized adults goal and single (or double) handedly kept SJFA in the game. SJFA had a great match against this opposition and hopes to play them again in future.
