On the 25th of November SJFA U14 team played AVA FC. The squad consisted of 14 players:

The game was to be 35 minutes each way with Husayn Yahya, Ali Hadi and Jameel starting sub, the game began.

SJFA began very brightly, with a succession of good chances, including a lofted shot by Zia saved well by the keeper. It was a very end to end game, with Ali Abbas keeping SJFA in the game a number of times, including rushing off the line to claim a seemingly goal bound shot.

Zaamin looked promising on the wing his link up play with imran chandoo nearly good enough to set up a goal.

However, as AFC began to settle in the game they created chance after chance, with SJFA saved by a tough defence and fantastic keeping. However, their inability to clear their ball out of their half, combined with accurate finishing put SJFA a goal down. On the 25 minute mark, Coach Hussein and Coach Gibran swapped on Ali Hadi and Husayn Yahya to end the half on a positive note. However it did not go all SJFA’s way.

A scrappy finish put SJFA another goal down to go 2-0 down. However SJFA kept their heads up, and countered quickly, with Zaamin down the left wing passing into Ali Hadi, whose flick sent the ball into Imran Chandoo’s path. He finished with composure, into the bottom right corner of the net.

The referee blew the whistle for half time, and after a half time talk by the coaches, we restarted the match, the only change Jameel swapping on up front. SJFA started in the same manner as they ended the first half, pushing hard for an equaliser. Both teams created brilliant chances, with creative football being played.

However, we could not take our chances like our opposition did. With a penalty conceded from Husayn Yahya, Ali Abbas Dossa dived right to push the ball out of harms way.

A couple of substitutions were made by the coaches due to injuries and, SJFA carried on pushing for the equaliser. Unfortunately, another goal was conceded and SJFA were down 3 goals to the 1. Another brilliant through ball and first time finish put SJFA 4-1 down.

We had a few chances but could not finish them which was one of the main differences between the two teams. The referee blew the whistle, final score was: AVA FC: 4 SJFA: 1

Ali Abbas Dossa was awarded man of the match, after a stunning performance in goal and although the score line does not represent the performance, the coaches appeared to be happy with our performance, as we played some good football and never gave up to the end.

I would like to say a real thank you to both our coaches Hussein Uncle and Gibran Uncle for taking our match on Saturday and taking our practices every week!
