On Saturday the 12th of January, a chilly and crisp morning, the SJFA U16 boys were slightly anxious yet determined to put up a fight against the reigning champions of the Chiltern Church League – The Holy Trinity Juniors Rangers.

We started the game off hopeful of at least putting a few goals past The Rangers as a comeback to our defeat at their hands a few months ago, but to our dismay, they had the upper hand from the get-go and dominated possession. The score line was even for a good 10 minutes before they managed to get a goal past our goalkeeper, MZ Kalyan. Unfortunately for us, it all went downhill from then on. By the end of the first half, it was already 3-0 to the opposition. We needed a boost in morale so we could play OUR game and that, indeed, was what we received. After a brilliant pep talk from the coach, we set out to start the second-half playing football the way it should be played. Almost immediately we had had 3 chances, however none of them came to fruition.

By the end of the match, we had been defeated 7-0 by our opponents and we knew we could’ve played better.

MOTM was awarded to Sajjadali Janmohammed

Thank you to Coach Mazharali and Coach Hasnain for their effort that goes into providing these opportunities for us.
