Young Guns Under 8 V SJFA Under 8
Ammar Husayn Ravji
Muhammad Mahdi Govani
On a bright mid summer’s afternoon, SJFA’s under 8’s travelled to the Ark Academy and played Young Guns under 8 side. The game was a total of 40 minutes and split into four 10 minute quarters.
Ashiqali Damani, the under 8 coach, started with a 2-1-1 formation. The early exchanges were very evenly matched and Muhammad Mahdi Govani was called upon to make a splendid save diving fully to his left.
The first chance for the visitors fell to Aadam Dewji stinging the home keeper’s hands with a powerful shot after making a fantastic burst into the box. The hosts took the lead to the disappointment of the SJFA team right towards the end of the first 10 minute period. 1-0 Young Guns.
The second period saw Ali Mukhtar in goal and Muhammad Mahdi move into the defence alongside Ammar Husayn with Aliraza Damani, Amaar Karawalli in midfield and Aadam Dewji playing the lone striker. Aliraza carved out the chance forcing the Young Guns keeper into a smart stop with his legs. From the resulting corner the Young Guns made a quick break and after a bit of ping pong and successive shots both hitting the post and woodwork, they increased the lead 2-0.
This young SJFA team came storming back and committed a lot of players which allowed the hosts to further increase their lead to 3-0, which also lead to a change in goal, Aliraza taking the gloves from Ali Mukhtar and Aabis Jaffri coming on for Ammar Husayn and taking his position in defence. The hosts further increased the lead, twice in quick succession to make it 5-0 at the end of period two.
The start of the third period saw Amaar Karawalli in goal along with a few other positional changes. SJFA warriors started this third period with fire in their belly. First Aadam Dewji making the Young Guns keeper fully dive to his right . Moments later Aadam again was clean through but dragged his shot wide. The SjFA warriors kept on going and winning the little battles in midfield and finally the hard work paid off after a quick throw was taken in the opposition half and Aadam was on hand to apply the finish. The hosts carried on applying the pressure and broke quickly to make it 6-1. The SJFA warriors were tiring after a super start to this third and it showed when the hosts went further ahead at the end of the third period. 7-1
The fourth period saw Amaar Karawalli make way for Aabis Jaffri between the posts. This final period started very much like the third period, fast and frantic play by the SJFA Warriors. A short corner was taken by Aliraza to Aadam who took a snap shot which forced the home keeper into a save. SJFA kept on driving forward and got their reward when a defence splitting pass from Muhammad Mahdi Govani released Aadam who happily dispatched to make it 7-2.
The hosts further increased the lead after a quick break to make 8-2 which quickly turned to 9-2; however the SJFA Warriors just kept on going. The vision of Wembley stadium in front of them kept the energy levels up. The Young Guns keeper had to be on full alert to deny both Aliraza and Aadam in the closing stages. The Young Guns took two further opportunities to finish the match 11-2.
