Jaabir Walji
Alireza Hamir (GK)
Husayn M H Merali

SJFA lined up in a 2-3-1 formation, with Husayn Ismail and Husayn Gulamhussein in defence, Ali Ismail, Adam Valjy and Jaabir Walji in midfield, and Sajjad Suleman up front.

This second game was against a very strong and experienced year 4 side. The game started a little slow for us as we were trying to find our feet against a well organised Indian Gymkhana team. We got an early lead through Sajjad Suleman with a well composed side footed finish.

Indian Gymkhana equalised with some quick passing and movement, however we managed to take the lead after Ali Ismail provided a great finish.

The boys were beaming with smiles coming in at half time. The second half began with a massive reshuffle so that every player got game time in their preferred positions. The second half started very well, with a particularly solid performance in defence from Husayn Gulamhussein.

Indian gymkhana scored four quick goals shortly after, and the coaches decided to put Jaabir in goal, Alireza on pitch, and Husayn Ismail further forward to create more threat upfront. The change paid off and Husayn Ismail scored a great volleyed solo goal to make it 5-3.

SJFA players were understandably tired and had never played together in this particular team. They came up against some fierce competition from a very good team who had been playing together for a long time. All the boys played very well, enjoyed themselves, and the parents support for the team was great to see.

Result: Indian Gymkhana 5 – 3 SJFA
