Eesa Ali Janmohamed
On Sat 27th April, SJFA played a friendly against Ickenham FC. It may have been classed as a friendly, but the boys taking part were telling the manager that they wanted some revenge for their crushing defeat from last year in the same fixture. Small minds, large memories! SJFA were there with a considerably stronger side this time around, as we had some league players from the U8s squad.
The game started 5 a side, 4 quarters of 10 minutes. Within 1 minute SJFA went 1 – 0 courtesy of an amazing solo run by Zain Dharas – it was a majestic, twisting, weaving run which started in midfield and culminated in a great strike. The remainder of the first quarter was dominated by SJFA, who went 4 – 0 up. All 4 goals coming from Zain Dharas. Eesa Ali made some good plays and runs from midfield – getting stuck in with some great tackles in midfield and chipping in with a few great goals.
For the rest of the game Ickenham had 6 players vs our 5. However this balanced the game a little more. The second half Ickenham came back into it, however Ali Nurmohammed and Hassan Valjy came on board and made some great plays from midfield. Scoring a few goals between them. Hurr Hussain scored a brilliant hat-rick and was displaying some of his amazing turns and dribbles from midfield, taking on the larger boys and losing them with his trickery.
In the third half Aadam Merali made a huge impact with his upfront play and tackling, but the highlight has to be his shot which hit the cross bar, which was a long range effort, it throughly deserved to be a goal. All the while Yusuf Jaffrey was helping to keep a clean sheet at the back playing in defence, and making some great tackles to stop Ickenham. Ickenham did grab a goal back.
To finish off a great friendly, all the boys took some fun penalties at the end. Final result was 14 – 1 to SJFA. A well deserved victory against a very decent Ickenham team.
