This was SJFCs first game following a two-week hiatus. Our opposition (Chipperfield Corinthians) sitting one position below us in the league, set up for an interesting tie. The sun was out and the pitch was neither firm nor boggy, creating the perfect playing conditions for some football.
SJ started the game slowly and went 1-0 down a few minutes in after a Chipperfield attacker finished off a floated cross into the box. SJ started to pick up the pace after this and a few chances came our way. Our equaliser came shortly after when Murtaza played a beautiful ball into Yaseen who drilled a low shot off the post into the bottom left corner. More chances fell our way before halftime after a good spell of possession; however, we failed to capitalize on any of our opportunities.
SJ looked to begin the second half in the manner we ended the first; however, neither side managed to get a foot on the game. Half chances fell to both teams, with neither managing to convert. SJ almost conceded late on, but some incredible last-ditch defending off the line kept the game level.
Overall, both sides had their chances; however, it was fair to say a one-all draw was a fair reflection of the game.
