SJFC U15 vs Westwood Park U15 Falcons

We lined up in a 3-5-2 formation with the following squad:

Suhail Merali (GK)
Akil Karawali
Abbas Chandoo
Alireza Hamir
Hassan Merali
Adam Hassan
Jaabir Walji
Alirayhan Merali
Qasim Hadi
Adam Valjy
Sayed Hussain Alavi
Muhammed Aqeel Mavani

The game started of in an even manner – both teams creating a few opportunities but ultimately coming to nothing. Westwood broke the deadlock thanks to a long throw over our defence playing in their striker for a one on one with the keeper 15 minutes into the game. Still determined, we continued. Alirayhan and Jaabir played a few good through balls to our Qasim and Adam, but still we could not find our break. As the first half came to a close, with energy levels dropping, Westwood capitalised from two errors in quick succession, one goal coming from a corner, and the second a free kick.

Coming out into the second half, we decided to switch up the strategy, now playing a more conventional 4-3-3. This new formation gave us more control in the midfield, but still we struggled to get through Westwoods solid defence. As the game went on our heads started to drop – 2-0 became 6-0 in another short, but deadly, flurry of success for Westwood. This is how the game ended.

There were a few takeaways from this game:

  • We all need to work harder on the pitch and put in more effort
  • Our minds need to be focused and concentrated in on the game and our individual responsibilities on the pitch
  • As a squad we need to attend Sunday training on a more regular basis
  • We all need to be fitter

A big thanks to all our coaches for being there to coach us through the first half of this season, and to all the parents spurring us on from the sidelines.
