As we reach the final matches of the season, Stanmore Jafferys FC U9s played Holy Trinity Juniors U9 Foxes at our home ground. The weather was remarkably calm – no typical rain, wind or mudbath pitch to contend with.

The match started evenly, with both teams enjoying possession and early opportunities. Coach Mustafa deployed a cautious approach for this match, with two lines of defence and midfield. This proved to be a wise decision, given the U9 Foxes had some attacking players in their starting team, plus a much larger matchday squad to select from.

As the SJFC U9s started to find a rhythm and gain a foothold, the team were rewarded with two goals during the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the SJFC U9s continued to dominate with some smart interplay in the opponents half and astute defensive play. A further two goals followed, leading to a 4-0 lead at half-time.

The U9 Foxes appeared for the second half sharper and faster to the ball, and scored a couple of quickfire goals. This motivated a response from the SJFC U9s, and were able to add a further goal, now leading 5-2.

No goals were added in Q4, although both teams enjoyed possession and created chances.
