Defeats have been few this season for the Stanmore Jaffery’s FC U9, in fact they’ve been on an unbeaten run recently that The Invincible’s of 2003/04 would be proud of.

Quarter 1 started with aplomb. Excellent all round play, including a defence-splitting pass from Husayn Kermali leading to Javadali Muraj unleashing a powerful shot hitting the post.

The defence were equally prepared – Yusuf Merali with a goal saving clearance and a superb one-on-one save by Murtaza Mehrali. Husayn Ali Khimji demonstrated excellent tracking and man marking the strong Iver U9 Pumas attack.

In quarter 2, Iver U9 Pumas started to dominate the midfield and scored two quickfire goals. SJFC U9’s continued to graft, Ali Rahemani and Aaqib Kazmi displayed their versatility supporting the defence and midfield. Nadhirali Rajwani put in a solid shift, including a goal line clearance avoiding a certain goal.

Quarter 3 proved to be crucial with Iver U9 Pumas adding three deserved goals to take a 5-0 lead. SJFC U9’s have form and can recall countless comebacks this season. Sadly, this wasn’t going to be one of them.

The SJFC players continued to battle in the final quarter, with neither side adding to the score.

Perhaps the result is a reminder for our young Lions to keep focus, maintain the team spirit and above all maintain their famed resilience.

On to the next – the final match of the season – against the same opposition!
